How you get a Stikka

1. Go somewhere that counts: a coffee shop, bakery, winery, brewery, distillery, landmark, museum, zoo or aquarium, stadium, theme park, beach, national park, town or country.
2. Get close (about a block for a coffee shop; more for big places like a winery, a stadium or a national park) and hang out a minute. Big places take a few minutes. In busy downtowns you need to be a little closer and stay a little longer.
3. When it's yours, you'll see Stikka found! Tap it to claim it. If you don't get to it, it waits in your Pocket for 12 hours.

Stikka collects while the app is open. Driving past doesn't count, and neither does sitting at a red light next to a café.

"I'm here"

Standing right at a place and don't want to wait? Tap I'm here on the map. If your GPS is sharp and the place is in range, you can claim it right away. If places are bunched together, you pick which one you're at.

It says I'm not close enough

• Step outside or near a window for a moment. GPS gets fuzzy indoors and between tall buildings.
• Make sure Stikka has location access: iPhone Settings → Stikka → Location → While Using the App, with Precise Location on.
• Give it a minute. You have to stay a little while, on purpose: that's what makes it count.

A place isn't on the map

Tap Make your own sticker on the map and name the place you're standing in. Hand-made finds get their own handmade-look sticker, and the preview shows the one you'll get. Got one that landed by mistake? Long-press it in your Pocket and toss it.

Peeling and your Pocket

New Stikkas wait face-down in your Pocket. Open one, grab the corner and peel it. Then tap Put in to drop it in the book you used last, or tap any other book or deck below it. You can also add photos and a note, and log what you had in your Slam Book.

Books, decks and moving stickers

• Make more books and decks with + New on the Shelf: composition notebooks, Locker Binders and skate decks.
• Touch and hold a sticker until it pops up, then drag it anywhere on the page.
• Hold it at the left or right edge to carry it to another page (up to five pages ahead).
• Drop it on a book at the bottom of the screen to move it to that book.
• Pinch to resize and twist to turn. Lift it and let go without moving for more options.
• Hold a book on the Shelf to star it (starred books stay on top) or drag it into a new spot.
• Use the search on the Shelf to find any sticker; tap it to jump to its page.

Rims, night finds and pins

One Stikka per place, but every visit counts (once every few hours). At 5, 10, 25, 50 and 100 visits its rim levels up. Find a place after your local sunset and its sticker gets a gold edge. Milestones earn enamel pins: see them all on your Collector Card at the top of the Shelf.

Slam Book and Faves

Log what you had at any place, rate it, tag it, and note who you were with. In Faves, rank your Top 10 for any collection (or any tag, like your best latte) with quick this-or-that taps, or drag them into order in See all. Filter by town or state.

Sharing

Tap the share icon in any book or deck, on your Top 10, on your stats, or on a pin. Pick a look and a size (Story or Post), choose whether your name and dates show, then Save image or Share.

Map buddies

Choose who walks the map as you in Settings → You on the map. The classic X and the french fries are ready from the start; more unlock as you collect.

Sounds, haptics and night

Settings has switches for Sounds and Haptics. Sounds also follow your iPhone's silent switch. Stikka changes with your real local sunset; or set Settings → Day & night to Always day or Always night.

Moving to a new iPhone

Stikka has no account, so your collection lives on your phone. It's included in your iPhone's own iCloud Backup if that's turned on (iPhone Settings → your name → iCloud → iCloud Backup), and restoring that backup on your new phone brings Stikka with it. Built-in iCloud saving is on the way.
