built for the busy, distracted brain.
to-do lists don't work when your mind won't sit still. nightcase hands you one case a night: small enough to start right now, and different enough that you'll want to come back tomorrow. some nights it's something around the house. some nights it's something just for you. there's a case for every kind of brain, and every kind of night.
every case comes with four moves.
none of them are wrong. that's the point. a to-do list shouts. a case file just waits on the desk.
take it.
stamp it in progress and get to work. come back and stamp it closed when it's done.
shrink it.
the same case, made small enough to do from the chair. a start still counts.
skip.
not this one. another file lands on the desk. no penalty, no guilt trip.
not today.
the office closes for the night. the case waits on the shelf while you get some sleep.
everything around the case is quiet on purpose.
pick how much office you want: just the case, the usual, or the works. change it any time.

one case a night.
small, real-life tasks — a drawer, an email, a glass of water. or write your own and let the desk deal them out.
the stakeout.
when a case is hard to start, sit with it for a short stretch while a light in the city slowly brightens. no countdown. finish it or just make a start — both count.

nickel.
the office cat. he keeps you company, purrs when you hold him, and sometimes brings an envelope up to the desk after a close.

the evidence chest.
the envelopes hold evidence: a matchbook, a key, a bent spoon. some pieces belong together, and a full set tells a story in the ledger.

an honest record.
every case you've closed, and when. the year so far, month by month. no streak to lose, no red numbers.

from anywhere.
take or close today's case from the home screen widget. ask siri to add a case. stakeouts show on the lock screen.
see it in action.

made for brains that hate lists.
one thing.
a list of twenty is a wall. one case is a door. you only ever see tonight's.
no clocks.
countdowns can be the loudest thing in the room. stakeouts use a slowly brightening light instead.
no punishment.
skip, shrink or rest and nothing breaks. there's no streak to lose and nobody keeping score but you.
he lives here.
he's glad of the company, though he'd never say so. hold him and he purrs. sit a stakeout and he settles in beside you — working alongside someone helps, even if the someone is a cat. he'll pretend not to notice.
the fine print, out loud.
is nightcase free?
right now, yes: everything, with no ads and no account. it won't be free forever, but the first detectives through the door keep everything, for good. download it while the office is new. the first case pack, house calls. — thirty bigger jobs around the place — is free too.
where is my information kept?
on your iPhone. nightcase collects nothing and has no account. if you turn on icloud sync, a copy goes to your own icloud, which apple runs and we never see. read the privacy policy.
is it a pomodoro timer?
no. a stakeout has a start and an end, but no countdown on screen. a light in the city brightens instead, and nickel stretches when it's over. you can stop whenever.
can i add my own tasks?
yes. "your cases" holds tasks you write yourself, and you choose how often they're dealt: only yours, mostly yours, some of each, or the odd one of yours. you can also say "add a case in nightcase" to siri.
what if i lose my phone?
with icloud sync on, your desk comes back when you sign in on the new phone. you can also export the desk as a plain file any time, from settings.
does it work on iPad?
not yet. nightcase is made for iPhone.
nightcase is a gentle focus and routine tool. it isn't a medical device and isn't a treatment for adhd or anything else. if you're struggling, talk to someone you trust or a professional.
